Knight Barry Title has a simple acquisition strategy – grow intelligently by acquiring quality title agencies and by organically opening new offices around a dynamic person.
The next step is critical, surround those offices with talented people.
It’s really all about the people in the title business. No matter how fancy the office or how techy the software, if you don’t have great people you can’t succeed in this business.Once the acquisition closes, the former owner becomes an important manager and can focus on what he or she does best: title work, closing services and customer relations. No longer will the former owner lose their nights and weekends to take on administrative tasks like final policy production, underwriter reporting, escrow reconciliation, HR, legal, IT, Best Practice compliance, audits, lender vetting, software programming, bookkeeping, financial matters and many other functions.
Knight Barry usually retains the entire acquired staff and may offer duplicative employees new roles if they have a willingness to stay on and learn a new task. As for the former owners, we are willing to consider many employment options. We’ve had former owners stay on as little as 2 months before retiring completely; but most have stayed on for more than 5 years, with several currently over 10 years.
