Keeping It Safe

Knight Barry Title Introduces Another Safeguard for your Transactions

Knight Barry Title is proud to have been selected to partner with CertifID to beta test its new product, CertifID IDv (“IDv”). This product provides another layer of protection against seller impersonation fraud.

As you probably know, we are already using CertifID’s other services to safely and securely send and collect wire transfer instructions, and to verify mortgage payoff information. By using IDv, we are now also able to validate a seller’s identification to ensure that we are communicating with the actual property owner and not a fraudster impersonating the real property owner. Unlike some of CertifID’s other tools, one of the exciting new features of IDv is that it can be used throughout the globe to validate the identity of a seller even if the seller is not physically located in the United States. This is just one more layer of protection that Knight Barry Title is using to keep realtors, lenders, sellers and buyers safe in our ever changing world of cyber crime in the real estate sector.

For more information about seller impersonation fraud, cyber crime generally in the real estate sector or if you are a realtor or lender and have reason to believe that you may be involved in a fraudulent transaction, please reach out to your local Knight Barry Title office and we’ll STOP-DROP and ROLL into action to help.

Oh and finally we would be remiss if we didn’t toot our own horn, or at least toot our own Rachel Petrach’s horn. Rachel, who is our own Chief Closing & Compliance Officer, was the featured guest on CertifID’s May 2024 monthly “To Catch a Fraudster” webinar series. The topic was, you guessed it, Seller Impersonation Fraud. In the webinar Rachel highlights Knight Barry’s latest tools and tricks to STOP the fraudster and kick them to the curb!
